PHP is platform-independent (runs on Windows, Linux, Unix) and compatible with most of the web servers (Apache, IIS) today. To my opinion, W3 Schools has the most comprehensive tutorial thus far.

I completely agree with you that W3 Schools have most promising tutorials on PHP. I learned PHP with the help of those tutorials only. They also provide examples to make the concept clear to their readers. Just go through those tutorials to learn PHP.
